Clinton County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Graymont Materials (NY) Inc., Rabideau Bank will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The applicant proposes to develop and operate a new sand and gravel mine, with a 67-acre life of mine area, to be operated in phases over a ten-year period. Mining operations will include crushing and screening by a portable processing plant, with an average of 125,000 tons of material to be removed annually. During the initial permit term, it is anticipated that 36 acres will be affected in order to provide materials needed for wind farm projects. Reclamation will be ongoing, with establishment of native grass cover as the final objective. The site is part of a 106-acre parcel owned by James and Donna Rabideau. The project is located on the west side of Cannon Corners Road. The entrance road is south of the intersection with White Road, just south of the English River crossing.
