Description: CO2 is a colorless and odorless gas at room temperature. It is the fourth most abundant gas in the Earth's atmosphere. Humans and animals exhale CO2 and plants "breathe" it in as they make food with the process of photosynthesis. The Carbon Cycle kept CO2 emissions in balance on Earth until it was upset by the Industrial Age.

Crime: Carbon dioxide is emitted into the air when fossil fuels are burned to release energy in power plants, homes, factories and vehicles. As CO2, a greenhouse gas, has built up in the Earth's atmosphere, it has contributed to global climate change.
