PDF's of Conservationist for Kids, plus teacher supplements and activity sheets are available though the links on the left side of this page.

In addition to Conservationist for Kids, DEC has many resources to assist teachers and informal educators who are incorporating nature study and environmental themes into their classroom and youth activities. These include workshops for educators, poster contests and more. Please refer to DEC's teacher information page for more information. Color brochures and posters of New York wildlife are also available as PDF's which can be downloaded and printed.

To receive information and updates about Conservationist for Kids, please sign up for our email list. Members receive messages from the editor about the magazine, plus supplemental materials for using the magazine in classrooms and non-traditional settings. In addition, list members receive notification about resources and training opportunities for connecting todays' youth to the outdoors and environmental issues.

Conservationist for Kids in the Classroom
Each issue of Conservationist for Kids is distributed, free of charge, to all public school fourth-grade classes in New York State. Teachers receive a class set of 30 copies of the magazine, plus a one-page teacher supplement. If you are a fourth-grade teacher in a public school in New York State and are not already receiving Conservationist for Kids for use in your classroom, please contact us so we can add you to our distribution list.
