Rogers Center Program Schedule
Programs are free of charge unless otherwise noted. Please dress for the weather! Organized groups wishing to participate in these programs need to call to make special arrangements.
We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. If you call ahead to let us know your specific needs, we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.
For further information or for pre-registration, call Rogers at 607-674-4017 Ext. 623. In the event of severe weather, modified programs will be held. Please call the center for more information.
Special Programs
Rogers Center invites you to explore the trails with a naturalist at 1:30 PM most Saturdays. Come explore the Center grounds as we witness seasonal changes. Take a walk with Rogers Center staff and learn more about the wonders of each season.
Walks occur throughout the year most Saturdays at 1:30 PM. Please call for more information. Families and individuals welcome. Meet at Rogers Visitor Center. Dress appropriately for the weather. Free.

Wolves

Gourd Art with Jane Hough

Think gourds are just for eating? Think again! Become an artist by painting on gourds with local artisan and gourd grower Jane Hough. Turn gourds into landscapes, animals or whatever you're inspired to do. Registration required; supplies limited. $5.00 for each gourd used.
Preparing for Winter

People complain about hard winters; imagine living outside through all those snowy months! Walk some of our trails with a naturalist, and learn how plants and animals prepare for winter. Whether it's putting on the pounds, storing food or losing leaves, we'll tell you how it's done.
Bluebird Nest Box Building

Build a bluebird nest box and you'll be surprised by the possibilities it can hold. Your new neighbors could be bluebirds, house wrens, chickadees or tree swallows, depending upon when and where you place the box. There is a $10.00 fee for every box you take home. Please bring a hammer.

Walk the Chenango Greenway with Rogers Center staff in search of clues animals leave behind. We'll identify tracks, food, scat and other signs that tell us who's been there. Dress warmly as we'll be walking slowly. Bring binoculars and cameras if you'd like. Snowshoes will be provided. Bring your own cross-country skis. Registration required. Greening Your Festivities

Soy Candles with Sara Tyler

Looking for an environmentally friendly gift this holiday season? Join Sara as she demonstrates how to make soy candles, and then make your own candle to take home. There is a $5.00 fee per participant. Please call to register and for details.
Senior Series: Winter Birds/Feeding/Walk

Learn the basics of backyard bird feeding, and walk the trail at Rogers to see what birds we can find here. We will spend some time watching the birds at the center's feeders and learn about a citizen science program focused on backyard birds and YOU. Please call to register.
110th Annual Christmas Bird Count

It's time for the annual census of area winter birds. If you enjoy birds and would like to get involved in the count, you're encouraged to help. Bring a willingness to learn, binoculars and enthusiasm. Call for details and to register.
Snowshoe Adams Farm

Dress in layers and head out on the trails for a snowshoe walk. Adams Farm offers the chance to see wildlife and the tracks they leave behind in the snow. If there is no snow, we will hike. Snowshoes provided. Please call to register.

New Year Wildlife List

Get out, and get ready to learn about winter wildlife. We will offer tips on where and when to look for wildlife and enjoy a nature walk to jump start your "life list" of animals for the New Year. Please call to register and for details.
32nd Annual Winter Living Celebration

This annual festival highlights winter recreation opportunities, educational exhibits and demonstrations and fun family entertainment. Activities indoors and out. Cross-country skis and snowshoes are welcome. Bring your Christmas tree for recycling. Event is FREE and appropriate for all ages.
Mammals

Skins, skulls and scat, oh my! This is a great opportunity to learn about mammals that may appear in your backyard or identify that strange scat pile you came across on a hike. Please call to register.

Holey Dwellers!

Who lives in a hole under the ground? Many animals use holes in the ground for year-round shelter or maternity dens. Walk the trails with us as we search for some holes and signs of the creatures that use them.

Full Moon Rising

David Terrazas, Central New York Astronomy Club, will take you on a telescopic walk on the moon, covering the craters, wrinkles, bumps and markings of this amazing rock. Dress warmly for both indoors AND outdoors.
