Phase 1B Cultural Resource Survey for SYW-12
This report presents the results of a Phase 1B cultural resource survey for the remediation of SYW-12, an area of land at the southeast corner of Onondaga Lake in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York (Figures 1 and 2, pp. 2-3). The Phase 1B cultural resource survey was undertaken following the recommendations of the Phase 1A assessment and following comments from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This study was undertaken to evaluate the potential for cultural resources within the project area in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the New York State Historic Preservation Act, and the professional standards of the New York Archaeological Council (NYAC 2000). The project includes the excavation of a series of backhoe trenches and split spoon corings of the property
identified as SYW-12 for potential cultural resources and contaminated soils which may require remediation.
