The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has proposed revisions to regulations for the bulk storage of petroleum (Petroleum Bulk Storage (PBS)) and chemicals (Chemical Bulk Storage (CBS)) and for the management of used oil. DEC is revising these regulations to reflect changes in state laws and federal laws and regulations. Coment period ended Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
To help the public understand the proposed regulations, DEC held public information meetings in Albany on September 4, 2014; New York City on September 9, 2014; and Rochester on September 11, 2014. Legislative public hearings were held to receive verbal and written comments about the proposed rules will be held in Albany on October 14, 2014; Rochester on October 16, 2014; and, New York City on October 23, 2014. Prior to each hearing, a public information meeting was held at the same location.
On August 26, 2014, DEC hosted an online webinar to present an overview of why the regulations are being revised; summarized the changes being made to the PBS, CBS, and used oil regulations; and, answered questions.
