New York State Solid Waste Management Plan 1999-2000 Update
The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is charged by Section 27-0103 of the Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) to develop the New York State Solid Waste Management Plan and biennial updates. This New York State Solid Waste Management Plan 1999-2000 Update (634, pdf) has the following purposes:

- to provide baseline solid waste management data for New York State;
- to summarize the development and progress in solid waste management in New York State since the spring of 1997, when the last Update of the State Plan was prepared; and
- to evaluate the objectives for major aspects of solid waste management in New York State (e.g., waste reduction, reuse, recycling, waste-to energy, landfilling, etc.) that were established in the previous Update, modify them if appropriate, and identify new objectives for the current Update.
