Small Business Compliance and Technical Assistance for Stationary Sources

The Small Business Stationary Source Technical and Environmental Compliance Assistance Program consists of two units which assist small businesses to facilitate compliance with air emission requirements:

  • The Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP), located at the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation, provides small businesses with free technical assistance and helps small businesses comply with environmental regulations, including completing permit applications. The SBEAP can suggest measures to help businesses achieve compliance, including permitting assistance, pollution prevention, material substitutions and process modifications. The SBEAP can be reached at 1-800-780-7227.
  • The Small Business Environmental Ombudsman (SBEO), located at Empire State Development, handles complaints about regulations and is the small business advocate. The SBEO provides information on complying with environmental regulations and assists small businesses through the compliance process. The SBEO also helps to locate sources of compliance financing.
