PrintPesticide Sales and Applications Annual Reports
In compliance with Article 33, Title 12 of the Environmental Conservation Law, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is providing these Pesticide Annual Reports. These reports are a summary of a computer data base that contains information on millions of pesticides applications and sales in New York State. This data base was developed by NYSDEC and Cornell University based on the reports submitted.
Certified pesticide applicators and technicians are required to report the name of the product applied, the product's federal EPA registration number, the quantity applied, the date of application, the county, street address, municipality and zip code of the application. Commercial permittees must report for each sale the name of the product purchased, its EPA registration number, the quantity purchased, the date, the county, street address, municipality and zip code of the intended application.
The information contained in the data base may be used by health researchers to evaluate possible links between pesticide use and breast, prostate and testicular cancer, as well as other diseases. The Health Research Science Board will help State environmental and health experts assess the scientific utility of the data base.
