Buffalo River Sediment Report

Buffalo River Sediment Study

To better understand the environmental health of the Buffalo River Area of Concern, many scientific studies have been performed on the river bottom sediment. Sediment quality can have a large effect on the river's ecosystem, and studies help us understand how and why. Scientists have collected samples from thousands of locations in the river to represent the overall sediment quality. These studies have taken place since 1986 with the initiation of the Buffalo River Remedial Action Report. The most recent study on river sediment is featured below. Due to the length of the report, it has been separated into smaller documents below for ease of access.

These studies have helped inform work that is now being done to help the environment of the Buffalo River, including removal of contaminated sediment from the river.
