This 5.5 acre site is located on the FDR Drive, south of East 116th Street. A manufactured gas plant operated on the site between 1895 and 1936. The site is currently occupied by the Manhattan Center for Science and Math and the Isaac Newton Junior High School for Science and Math.

Former Clifton MGP Site - 25 Willow Parcel - 243023
Former Clifton MGP Site in Staten Island Record of Decision (ROD) (PDF) (42 Page, 1.1 MB) for Operable Unit No. 2 was issued on December 22, 2006. The ROD selected a remedy that includes demolition of the existing building, removal of former MGP-related structures, excavation of source materials to approximately 10 feet below grade and backfill with clean fill to existing grade, installation of vertical cutoff walls in the subsurface to prevent off-site migration of coal tar, installation of recovery wells and a site management plan.
