Basin Assessments and WI/PWL Update Status
The review and update of the Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is a continuous process. Each year the review and update process turns its focus to two or three of the major drainage basins in the state. This rotating basin strategy results in a review and updating of the WI/PWL for all basins in New York State over a five year cycle.

Allegheny River Basin
The Allegheny River Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is currently being updated. Revised water quality assessments for the waters in this basin are expected to be available in Spring 2007.
The previous Priority Waterbodies List for the basin was prepared in September 1996 and is available. However, this document is limited to waterbody listings thought to be impacted at that time and does not include a comprehensive Waterbody Inventory. In addition, the 1996 PWL made no effort to document waters with No Known Impacts.
Atlantic/Long Island Sound Basin
The Atlantic Ocean/Long Island Sound Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is scheduled to be updated late in 2007.
The previous Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List for the basin was prepared in April 2002 and is available. The next Statewide Waters Monitoring effort in the basin will begin in 2008
Black River Basin
The Black River Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is currently being updated. Revised water quality assessments for the waters in this basin are expected to be available in Spring 2007.

Chemung River Basin

The Delaware River Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is scheduled to be updated in 2008.

Housatonic River Basin
The Housatonic River BasinWaterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List update, as well as the monitoring and assessment of the waters of this basin, are conducted along with the waters of the larger and adjoining Lower Hudson River Basin.
Genesee River Basin
The Genesee River BasinWaterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is scheduled to be updated in 2008.

Lake Champlain Basin
The Lake Champlain Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is scheduled to be updated in late 2007.

Lake Ontario Minor Tribs
The Lake Ontario (Minor Tribs) Basin Waterbody Inventory/Priority Waterbodies List is currently being updated. Revised water quality assessments for the waters in this basin are expected to be available in Spring 2007.
These tributaries of Lake Ontario have been divided among, and are monitored and assessed with waters of other larger drainage basins. These include:

The next Statewide Waters Monitoring effort in the Upper Hudson Basin is currently underway and the next update of the Upper Hudson Basin WI/PWL is scheduled for 2008.
