Regulatory Elements of Enhanced I/M
DEC is responsible for ensuring that the inspection stations are in compliance with Regulations Part 217 and that the equipment and software utilized for the tests are approved and certified.
The department monitors the program to ensure that the standards are proper to achieve the emission reductions needed to fulfill the federal requirements and initiates changes to the state regulations in response to changes in the federal requirements or issues raised by the public or the legislature.
