Regulatory Elements of Enhanced I/M
DEC is responsible for ensuring that inspection stations are in compliance with Regulations Part 217 and that the equipment and software utilized for the tests are approved and certified. DEC monitors the program to ensure that standards are proper to achieve the emission reductions needed to fulfill the federal requirements and initiates changes to the state regulations in response to changes in the federal requirements, or issues raised by the public or the legislature.
