As of February 2007, the NYSDEC has identified over 200 manufactured gas plant sites across the state. The DEC has assembled a full list of sites, sorted by county. An interactive map showing the locations of these sites is being developed.

In the vast majority of cases, the investigation and clean-up of Manufactured Gas Plant Sites across New York State is being addressed by the utility companies which either operated the plants or which acquired responsibility for sites through acquisition of the predecessor companies. Below is a list of the State's public utilities, and a summary of the number of sites each is responsible for. This chart also includes links to complete listings of each utility's sites.
