Analytical Services and QA/QC Program
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Water has always been committed to proper Quality Assurance (QA) practices in all its environmental monitoring programs. A Quality Assurance Management Plan (QAMP) has been prepared to clearly delineate the QA activities of the Division of Water to promote uniformity and ensure that all environmental data generated and processed will be of known and acceptable quality. It ensures that all monitoring and analytical projects conducted by the Division, in cooperation with the Division, or for Division will be conducted according to approved Quality Assurance Project Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, equipment manufacturers specifications and 40 CFR 136, as appropriate. With the majority of the analytical work being performed at contract laboratories, specific QA practices have been adopted to address the needs of the relationship between the Division and contracted laboratories. The specific QA practices and laboratory measurement activities are documented in the July 2005 New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) "Analytical Services Protocol."
