Beyond the routine monitoring of all the waters of the state, the bureau also investigates, through sampling investigation and research, other issues and questions bearing on water quality. These activities may focus on a specific waterbody, or substance/contaminant, or source/pathway, or contaminant trends. Water quality research projects maybe short- or long-term efforts, but are typically of limited duration.
