Well Transfer Search
Well owners need to notify DEC's Division of Mineral Resources and receive formal approval before a well can be transferred to a new owner. Until DEC grants approval, the owner of record remains legally liable for the well.
This search function allows users to search on well transfers by old owner name, new owner name, API Number, Hole Number, Transfer Status, Transfer Request Date and Transfer Approval Date.
Since 1988 DEC has published information about well transfer requests and subsequent approvals for the previous 90 days in the Environmental Notice Bulletin. To display similar results, use Transfer Request Date and Approval Date (both in the drop-down menu) with the Greater Than or Equal search option.
