The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT), as co-lead agencies, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Generic Travel Corridor Unit Management Plan.

Written comments on the Draft EIS will accepted through November 27, 2017 and can be submitted to the contact listed above.

NYSDEC will host a public availability session to provide information on a recently finalized habitat management plan for Lake Shore Marshes WMA located between the towns of Rochester and Oswego, Wayne County.

Come join us to learn about the goals of the plan and future management at this WMA. The meeting will include a presentation and time for questions. An open house will begin at 6:30 and a formal presentation at 7:00.

DEC invites public comment about draft Decision Documents regarding former Manufactured Gas Plant Sites located in Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town, Manhattan. Public comments about the draft Decision Documents will be now be accepted through December 1, 2017.

A public meeting has been rescheduled: November 1, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Podell Audiroium at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, 10 Nathan D. Perlman Place (one block west of 1st Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets).

Family Fun: Let's Make A Green Holiday

On Saturday, December 2, 10:00 AM turn trash into treasure or at least use eco-friendly materials to wrap all those packages for under the tree or for any other special day. Come ready to get a little messy as we explore various wrapping materials that are eco-friendly, kid-friendly and fun. Adults must accompany children. This program is free of charge, but space is limited. Please call the Center at 518-475-0291 to register by Wednesday, November 29.

Join us as we discover the coming of winter, both in the pages of books and outdoors. A naturalist will read a story, and then we’ll go walk outdoors to explore some of the themes in the book. We’ll end by completing a craft in the visitor center. All are welcome, but the program is most appropriate for children ages 3-7. Adults must accompany children.
