11:00 AM NYSP2I Waste Cooking Oil Presentation http://www.rit.edu/affiliate/nysp2i/ Contact Adam Wingatearwp2i@rit.edu A program for production of renewable fuel from waste cooking oil has been developed. The waste oil is collected by residential drop-off at a centrally located “EcoPark” facility, and after initial separation, it is converted into biodiesel fuel by a transesterification process. Environmental and economic benefits are realized by offsetting existing biodiesel fuel demand in municipal vehicles and power equipment, and reducing treatment and maintenance costs associated with waste oil handling at publicly-owned treatment works (POTW).
