Public Meeting Location: City of Gloversville, Council Chambers, 3 Frontage Road, Gloversville, NY

The public is invited to the public meeting to learn about the remedy being proposed by DEC to address contamination related to the Pan American Tannery Site (Gloversville). Public comments also are welcome at the meeting, and during a public comment period that runs through March 15, 2013.

This webinar will provide an overview of the development of a CSC web-based toolkit that is being designed so communities can locate GHG reduction practices in the areas of land use, transportation, building codes, housing policy, green infrastructure, and infrastructure investment that best suit local needs and priorities. Emily Vail and Andrew Meyer from the NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program will discuss the Hudson River Watershed and how tributaries connecting the landscape of the Hudson Valley affect the water quality of the Hudson River. They will also explain the basics of green infrastructure and how it can help improve water quality in the valley.

This workshop, for early childhood educators with an interest in teaching children to appreciate the beauty of nature, uses a child’s sense of wonder to encourage first-hand exploration of the natural world. Participants will receive a free Growing Up WILD workbook full of stimulating hands-on activities, including crafts, art projects, music, conservation activities, reading and math connections, which correlate to NAEYC Standards and Head Start Domains. Cardinals, woodpeckers, and nuthatch’s are just a few of the birds that we will identify by song and sight on our afternoon walk along the banks of the Hudson River. Tips will be given on how to get started in this fascinating hobby.

Some animals have a bad reputation. Come to this family-friendly program to learn about animals not all of us fully appreciate. We will use games and crafts and go for a walk to delve into the lives of the not so cute and cuddly. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other.
