DEC invites public comment about a draft work plan to investigate the nature and extent of contamination related to the 1735 Express Drive North Site (Hauppauge). Work will be performed within New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Comments about the draft work plan may be submitted until January 20, 2014.

DEC invites public comment about a proposal to delist the Magnusonics Devices Site #130031 (Hicksville, Nassau County) from New York's Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites. Comments about the proposal to delete the site from the Registry may be submitted until January 20, 2014.

 Proposed Cleanup of NYSEG-Clyde MGP Site (Clyde, Wayne Co.) Comment Period Ends

DEC invites public comment about a proposed remedy to address contamination related to the NYSEG - Clyde MGP Site. The site is a former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) facility located in Clyde, Wayne County. Comments about the cleanup proposal may be submitted until January 21, 2014.

A public meeting about the cleanup proposal also will be held: January 8, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Clyde Savannah Public Library, 204 Glasgow Street, Clyde, NY 14433.

Valley Sand & Gravel, Inc, is proposing to add approximately 103 acres to the existing life of mine.

A legislative public hearing, pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 617 and Part 621, will be held on January 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. to hear unsworn, oral comments on the Draft EIS and the Article 23 Mined Land Reclamation permit application.



 Proposed Investigation of Chatsworth Coal Site (Larchmont) Comment Period Ends

The site is located in Larchmont, Westchester County. Comments regarding the draft investigation work plan will be accepted through January 24, 2014.

Binoculars and a bird guide are all you need to start this fascinating hobby. During this indoor/outdoor clinic, center staff will provide an overview of tools and techniques to help you learn more about the birds that live in our area in winter. Afterwards, staff will lead an outdoor foray to look and listen for common birds. Binoculars are helpful but not necessary. We have a few to loan.
