SUNY Old Westbury Campus Center
Wenwood Drive, Old Westbury, NY 11568

Construction and demolition (C&D) debris is a large segment of the solid waste generated in New York State, and the processing and recycling of C&D debris is a vital component of the State’s solid waste management infrastructure and State Solid Waste Management Plan.

Compliance with Department’s regulations is critical for C&D debris Processing Facility operators and utilizing the NYSDEC as a resource to keep in compliance should be a tool used by every operator.

This forum is intended to provide an opportunity to meet with the Department’s Materials Management staff and to discuss the concerns of both the regulated community and the Department. But most importantly, it is designed to encourage you to utilize the Department, its staff, and its knowledge base as a resource to maintain compliance with Department regulations while enhancing your business.

The Department’s aim is to ensure compliance and consistency in operation while supporting the success of solid waste management facilities. The success of the recycling industry is critical for achievement of the State’s solid waste management goals and objectives.

In order to maximize the value of the forum, we highly encourage you to bring along staff that are familiar with your facility’s day-to-day operations. Your facility operations staff and DEC’s inspectors and monitors represent the primary link between your business and our agency. Strengthening that link is a primary objective of this forum.
