DEC, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) from Valley Sand & Gravel, Inc. A legislative public hearing will be held on January 7, 2014 to accept unsworn, oral comments on the Draft EIS and the complete applications. In the event the January 7, 2014 public hearing is postponed due to inclement weather, the alternate public hearing date is January 8, 2014.

Written comments on the Draft EIS and permit applications will be accepted by NYS DEC until January 24, 2014.

This webinar will describe the process and various tools used by Kingston’s Tidal Waterfront Flooding task force in developing Kingston’s recently adopted recommendations for waterfront resiliency.

Managing pests in enclosed structures can be challenging but these upcoming programs can help growers of all sizes. We will offer practical lessons and tips you can use to better manage pests.

This project was initiated because in greenhouses, pesticide resistance can lead to over-use of pesticides, as well as a reduction in yields and crop quality due to poor pest control. The topic of resistance management can be complex; we hope this interactive webinar series will help provide the information greenhouse growers can use to manage pesticide resistance.

DEC invites the public to comment about a draft work plan to investigate the nature and extent of contamination related to the Former Philru Knitting Mills Site, located on Madison Avenue in Ridgewood, Queens. Comments about the draft work plan may be submitted until January 10, 2014.

Unbeknownst to many, a lot of insects survive winter’s cold temperatures. The trick is finding them! They may be hiding in plain sight or under logs and grasses. Join center naturalists on this winter journey to learn about and find these tiny little critters. The program will begin indoors and will finish with an outdoor walk in search of insects.
