NYSDEC will host a public availability session to provide information on two recently completed habitat management plans for John White Wildlife Management Area (WMA), located in the town of Alabama, Genesee County, and Oak Orchard WMA, located in the towns of Alabama and Oakfield, Genesee County, and the towns of Barre and Shelby, Orleans County.

Come join us to learn about the goals of the plans and future habitat management at these WMAs. The meeting will include a presentation and time for questions. An open house will begin at 6:30 and a formal presentation at 7:00.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) is seeking public input to the Upper Hudson Woodlands ATP, Hyslop Tract Conservation Easement Draft Recreation Management Plan.

The draft plan can be viewed on DEC's website. Public comments will be accepted for 30 days, from February 27, 2019 and ending March 29, 2019. Join us for an introduction to maple sugaring, from tap and sap to syrup. You’ll get to twirl a brace and bit, pound a spile, inspect the sap flow, enjoy the aroma of sap boiling in our evaporator and take the maple syrup taste test challenge. A local maple producer will be on site to answer questions and offer a variety of maple products for sale. Organized groups, please call to register.

NOTE: Organized groups (scouts, schools, hiking clubs, etc.) are welcome, but are asked to call Five Rivers at 518-475-0291 to register.
