As part of Governor Cuomo’s plan to improve the state’s economic development model, the NYS Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) streamlines and expedites the grant application process. It offers a single entry point for access to funding from multiple state agencies for economic development, community revitalization, and environmental improvements.

As part of the 2017 CFA, a series of workshops is offered across the state to provide potential applicants with additional information on individual funding programs offered, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and discuss project ideas with program representatives. Workshops are being held during May and June.

The workshop schedule is available here: https://regionalcouncils.ny.gov/genericcfa/2017-cfa-workshops.

Citizen Science: Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP)

Take part in ongoing research on monarch butterflies. For more than 15 years, data collected at Five Rivers has been contributed to this continent-wide citizen science project conducted through the University of Minnesota. The goal of the MLMP is to better understand how and why monarch populations vary, with a focus on their distribution and abundance during the breeding season in North America. Volunteers in the United States, Canada and Mexico aid in conserving monarchs and advance understanding of butterfly ecology and migration in general. Meet at the Nature’s Accessible Backyard Trail kiosk, at the south end of our parking lot. Go to www.mlmp.org to learn about the project.
