Many people are inspired by Five Rivers, including local artists. During July and August, members of the Bethlehem Art Association will exhibit some of their works related to the site in the visitor center.The exhibit is open during visitor center hours, Monday through Saturday, 9am to 4:30pm; closed Sundays and state holidays.

Meet the artists at a reception from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 25.

Would you like to take a walk in nature, but would rather not go alone?

Join the "Walkers' Club" at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center on Tuesday mornings, 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Participants will gather at the Visitor Center and choose which trail they will walk that morning. This is an opportunity to walk with others and make new friends. These walks are not guided or led by staff. Walkers' Club is a free activity.

Join a naturalist from Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in creating a house to attract nature's fairies. Once you learn how, you can make one anywhere. For children ages 5 to 10. Note: this program takes place at Amherst State Park.

NYS DEC will host a webinar to provide a general overview of the federal rules included in a new hazardous waste rulemaking. This webinar will include a presentation and NYS DEC will be soliciting comment on these potential revisions. These revisions include provisions from several federal rules, including the e-Manifest Rules, Definition of Solid Waste Rule (as amended 2015), Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule, and Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals Rule. DEC will hold its first meeting to announce outcomes of the Commercial Licensing Assessment Review generated by marine fisheries consultant George LaPointe on July 9, 2019, 6:00pm at Stony Brook University's Charles B. Wang Center, located at 100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11794 - Google Maps (link leaves DEC website).

The live audio from this meeting will be available for the public. Please see the website above for instructions on how to join.

In August 2019, DEC will host two additional meetings in both Suffolk and Nassau county for stakeholders to review the report, ask questions, and provide verbal and written comments. Information about these meetings will be available as date and locations are determined.

DEC encourages all stakeholders to review this document and provide written comments by e-mail to FW.Marine@dec.ny.gov with the subject line "GLP Permits," or by mail to Maureen Davidson, NYSDEC, 205 Belle Mead Road, Suite #1, East Setauket, New York 11733. Comments will be accepted until September 30, 2019.
