Location  NYSDEC Division of Marine Resources, 205 N Belle Mead Road, Suite 1 East Setauket, NY 11733 - Map

NYS DEC is filing a Notice of Emergency Adoption and Proposed Rule Making to amend 6 NYCRR Part 40, Marine Fish. This new rule will increase the incidental catch limit for scup to 2,000 pounds for commercial fishers in the small-mesh net fishery from April 15 through June 15. This rule will allow commercial fishers to retain and sell scup that are inadvertently caught and killed in the small mesh squid fishery. The rule will provide economic benefit to New York State commercial fishers, prevent the waste of scup caught as bycatch, and allow New York regulations to remain consistent with federal regulations.

This notice will be published in issue 18 of the State Register, dated May 1, 2019. There will be a 60 day public comment period ending July 1, 2019. For more information please contact the person listed above.

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
