DEC invites the public to comment about a proposed remedy to address contamination related to the Former Safety Kleen Dry Cleaners Site (Vails Gate, Orange Co.), within New York's State Superfund Program. Public comments about the proposal will be accepted through March 27, 2019.

A public meeting also will be held: March 18, 2019 at 6:30 PM at Cornwall Public Library, 395 Hudson Street, Cornwall, NY 12518 to discuss the proposed remedy and accept public comments.

Part 231 New Source Review for New and Modified Facilities – The Department will be proposing to revise 6 NYCRR Part 231 New Source Review for New and Modified Facilities. These revisions will align Part 231 with the Environmental Protection Agency’s federal New Source Review regulations and Supreme Court rulings. The proposed revisions will also incorporate minor clarifications.

DEC Lands and Forests staff will be meeting with stakeholders to discuss proposed regulation changes to the 480-a Forest Tax Law in several events across the state. These events are open to the public.

NYSDEC will host a public availability session to provide information on two recently completed habitat management plans for John White Wildlife Management Area (WMA), located in the town of Alabama, Genesee County, and Oak Orchard WMA, located in the towns of Alabama and Oakfield, Genesee County, and the towns of Barre and Shelby, Orleans County.

Come join us to learn about the goals of the plans and future habitat management at these WMAs. The meeting will include a presentation and time for questions. An open house will begin at 6:30 and a formal presentation at 7:00.
