WHO: Programs are for adults and pre-school children.

WHAT: Adults (parent, grandparent, or guardian) and children (ages 2-4) together will take part in exploring the natural world during different seasons of the year. Each 1 ½ hour session will begin with the sharing of a story book on a nature topic. Participants will take part in an outdoor activity that is suggested by the book. After their guided walk, they will return indoors to take part in a craft or take-home project.

WHEN: Each session will take place over a 4 week period. Participants may come either on Tuesday or on Wednesday. (Both days will be identical. Please commit to either Tuesday or Wednesday.) Sessions run from 10:00 to 11:30 am. You may sign up for as many sessions as you like.

EXTRA: Participants will keep an age-appropriate record of their nature adventures and will be sent an e-mail before each meeting day. The e-mails will be a reminder and a picture clue of what that week's adventure will be.

COST: 4 week Session: Basic session fee = $25.00 + Material fee per child per session of $10.00

* Special note for hunters: most hunting zones do not align with DEC's regional boundaries, so you won't find hunting seasons listed in the regional calendars. Use the statewide calendar instead.

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
