DEC invites the public to comment about a proposed remedy to address contamination related to the Cottage Place Gardens Phase 4 Site (Cottage Place and Warburton Ave., Yonkers), within New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Public comments about the proposal will be accepted through December 8, 2018.

Some animals stay active during the winter. Others settle in for a long-term snooze. Come take a short walk with us as we look for signs of animals preparing for the cold months ahead and talk about their survival tactics. 

NOTE: Organized groups (scouts, schools, hiking clubs, etc.) are welcome, but are asked to call Five Rivers at 518-475-0291 to register.

Join us for a guided snowshoe walk along the trails as we look for signs of wildlife. Note: This program is being held at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in Basom, NY. If no snow, program will be rescheduled on January 19, 2019. Snowshoe rental: $5.

The Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) program has been running at Five Rivers for 18 years. Join a DEC fish and wildlife biologist to talk about this program and its importance as we celebrate the creation of the American Bird Banding Association on December 8, 1909.
