DEC will host an informational webinar on November 28, 2018 to provide the public the opportunity to learn and ask questions about potential regulatory actions to reduce hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) emissions. DEC is considering adopting prohibitions on specific uses of HFCs in refrigerants, aerosol propellants, and foam-blowing agents that were previously finalized by the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2015 and 2016, under the Significant New Alternatives Program. Potentially affected entities include the manufacturers, retailers, and users of refrigerants, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, and other affected consumer products.

NYS DEC has completed a Draft Unit Management Plan Amendment for the Blue Ridge Wilderness. The amendment proposes the construction of a portion of the Seventh Lake Mountain to Sargent Ponds Multiple-Use Trail and its maintenance as a Class II Community Connector Snowmobile Trail. Starting at the bridge over the South Inlet of Raquette Lake, a route parallel to the south side of New York State Route 28, approximately four miles in length, will continue eastward until reaching private property near Bear Brook.

The project is located in the Towns of Indian Lake, Long Lake, Arietta, and Lake Pleasant and the Village of Speculator, New York.

A public meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on November 28, 2018, at the following location:

Raquette Lake Union Free School District
115 Route 28
Raquette Lake, NY.

Written comments are welcome and will be accepted, by mail or e-mail, by the contact person listed above until Friday, December 7, 2018.

Copies of the Draft Unit Management Plan are posted on the NYS DEC website. Copies will also be available on CD at NYS DEC's headquarters in Albany, NY (5th floor) and NYS DEC's Region 5 Offices in Ray Brook and Northville, NY.
