DEC invites the public to comment about a proposal for no further action related to the Former Ogilvie Foods Company Site (Watertown, Jefferson Co.), within New York's Brownfields Cleanup Program. Public comments about the proposal will be accepted through March 26, 2018.

DEC invites the public to comment about a proposed remedy to address contamination at a portion of the Former IBM Endicott Facility (Endicott, Broome Co.), within New York's State Superfund Program. Public comments about the proposal will be accepted through March 26, 2018.

A public meeting also will be held: March 8, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Union-Endicott High School, Lecture Hall, 1200 East Main St., Endicott, NY 13760.

Data integrity is fundamental to any water monitoring project so that the data can be used with confidence.
This DEC webinar will focus on two critical elements that support data integrity: quality assurance and the NYS Department of Health (DOH) Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP).

Topics to be covered include:
  • An overview of ELAP
  • The process to become an ELAP certified lab
  • The steps to maintaining ELAP accreditation
  • The components of the planning, implementation and evaluation process that will safeguard data quality (called the “Quality System”)
  • What you need to know about Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP) to ensure that your project objectives will be met

This summit will include an evening session that is open to the public where background information about harmful algal blooms will be provided. The sessions will include talks by experts, a panel discussion and an opportunity for local residents to share recommendations and ideas.
