Workshops and tours will be held at Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York.  These workshops and tours will educate urban forestry professionals, shade tree committees and volunteers.  This annual conference brings together interested parties from the state's nine regions to share experiences, ideas and new information.  Planning board and Zoning Board credits will be offered as well as professional credits in the following disciplines:  SAF, ISA, DEC Pesticide Credits, CNLP and LA. Standing Up for Long Island's Trees will showcase best management practices to help communities recover from storms, manage invasives and promote healthy canopy cover to combat climate change.

DEC invites public comment about proposed cleanup activities to address contamination related to the 154 South Ogden Street Site (Buffalo, Erie Co.), within New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Comments about the proposal will be accepted through July 18, 2014.

DEC invites public comment about a proposal to delist the 1083 Route 32 Site #356031 (Rosendale, Ulster Co.) from New York's Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites. Comments about the proposal to delete the site from the Registry may be submitted until July 18, 2014.

The Department invites public comments on the Upper Hudson Woodlands ATP Conservation Easement Draft Public Access Recreation Management Plan (RMP). The draft RMP contains facilities and improvements including the opening of eight miles of public fishing corridors; designating or constructing several small gravel parking areas - including parking for persons with disabilities; boat launches, car top boat launches, including launches for persons with disabilities and privies and fishing piers for persons with disabilities. Additionally, three separate Public Use Areas (PUAs) will be opened to provide approximately 4,529 acres of land for year-round non-motorized access such as hunting, fishing, trapping and boating opportunities.

Comments will be accepted through July 18, 2014 and may be submitted to Allison Buckley, NYS DEC Lands & Forests, P.O. Box 1316, Northville, NY 12134-1316.>
