A small game hunting license is required to take snapping turtles. The only legal implement for taking snapping turtles is a firearm or a bow.

If you choose to eat snapping turtles, you should carefully trim all fat and discard fat, liver, and eggs prior to cooking to reduce exposure to contaminants. For information on this health advisory, call 1-800-458-1158 or visit the New York State Department of Health website in the right column

This meeting which will be held at SUNY-Orange, Kaplan Hall, 1 Washington Center, Newburgh, NY will showcase the empowering resources available to communities from our networks and New York State's excellent new technical assistance programs. These partners are prepared to help communities become solar friendly through streamlined permitting and free zoning reviews, as well as guidance on financing and marketing strategies. DEC's Mark Lowery will present "Climate Smart Communities-Reaching for the Sun."

Trail Tuesdays

Every Tuesday from April through August from 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Turn your love for the outdoors into rewarding action. Assist with projects to help maintain and improve ecosystems and trails throughout the preserve. There is something for almost every age and ability to help with! Refreshments provided. Registration required; call 716-683-5959 to sign up.

Representatives of NYSDEC, New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and Corning Incorporated will present general information regarding the Study Area Characterization.
