Location: Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, Delmar

After spending winter in the warmth of more temperate climes, many bird species return to Five Rivers to breed or continue on to homes even farther north. Five Rivers provides the habitat that birds need to nest and raise young, and also offers the shelter and food required for birds to rest and refuel as they continue their journey. We will watch for residents and migrants, exploring a variety of habitats important to migratory birds.

The Service Loop offers a nice easy stroll along wide flat trails. It is a great way to enjoy a cross section of Five Rivers. We will pass through a variety of habitats, including ponds, marshes, old fields and mature forest. We may see Canada geese with goslings and a wide variety of migratory birds, plus frogs, turtles, and much more.
