The 2014 camping season will officially begin on May 16th when all DEC Campgrounds will be open for camping! Visit DEC Campground web page for a full schedule and for more information on campground amenities and locations.

DEC has received a Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) application and a Remedial Investigation Work Plan from Queens Development Group, LLC, et al, for a site known as the Willets Point Development, Site ID #C241146. This site is located in the City of New York, within the County of Queens, and is located at 126th St./Willets Point Boulevard. The Third Annual Green Your Commute Day

Friday May 16, Tricentennial Park (Broadway, between Steuben and Columbia Streets), Albany  11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Walk, jog, skate, bike, kayak, carpool or take public transportation to work. Do anything but drive solo!

Last year we saved over 3,650 miles and over 3,450 pounds of CO2 emissions!  If you register, we can include your green commute in our emissions and mileage reduction calculations.  Register online: http://www.dec.ny.gov/public/96418.html  

Green Your Commute Day exhibits will include:

  • Alternative fuel vehicles and information : Learn about the latest green vehicles from the people who drive them!
  • Bike display and bike safety spot checks
  • Guided lunchtime bike ride
  • Info on bike commuting, carpooling,vanpooling and public transportation.

Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas.
