Join us for a beginner’s outing, and see how easy it is to stamp out cabin fever before it starts. We will start with an indoor presentation to learn about snowshoes and how to walk and turn in them, then head out on the trails to embrace the sights and sounds of early winter. In the event of insufficient snow, this program will be conducted on foot. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. This program is free of charge, but space is limited. Please call Five Rivers at 518-475-0291 by Wednesday, December 18 to reserve snowshoes and/or to register.

Noted biologist, nature writer, and ultra-marathoner Bernd Heinrich combined his passion for biology and running in his 2001 book, Why We Run, A Natural History. We will tap into what Heinrich’s research and personal experience has taught him about animal and human adaptations for running. By the end of the workshop, you will know how to race an antelope. Reading Why We Run before the workshop is recommended but not required.
