  • Marten - Adirondack Wildlife Management Units 5C, 5G, 5F, 5H, 5J, 6J and 6F only - a special permit is required to trap marten. Contact DEC's Region 5 wildlife office at (518) 623-1240 for details
  • Fisher - northern and eastern areas upstate

For bobcat, otter, fisher and marten, you must fill out a furbearer possession tag and have the pelt sealed.

DEC has drafted proposed changes to 6 NYCRR Part 575 Prohibited and Regulated Invasive Species regulation. The public comment period ends December 23. Several hearings are scheduled throughout NYS to also allow the public to provide comments.
