Youth hunters, ages 12-15, must possess a junior hunting license and be accompanied by a licensed adult hunter. Only junior hunters are allowed to possess a firearm or harvest birds during the special youth hunt weekend. The bag limit is two birds per day for the Long Island youth pheasant hunting weekend.

Join us for a 2-mile hike on Five Rivers’ Wild Turkey Trail. This is the northernmost edge of Five Rivers, skirting a 60-acre field and meandering throughout hardwood forests. We’ll enjoy the fall colors, glimpse wildlife, and watch for signs of wild turkey. Wear comfortable, sturdy footwear.

Many people enjoy watching birds at their backyard feeders. But did you know your observations can contribute to the study of bird populations and movement? Noting what you see and reporting your observations can enhance your enjoyment while adding to our collective knowledge of birds. Come learn about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Project FeederWatch and other simple ways to better understand your backyard birds.
