Project Learning Tree is an award-winning curriculum that uses the forest as a "window" to help students in grades pre-K to 8 and educators gain awareness and knowledge of the natural world. Much of the curriculum focuses on practical, familiar examples of tress, plants and household products to paint a broader picture of the issues facing the environment today. All participants will receive the free Project Learning Tree curriculum guide upon completion. www.plt.org

Galls provide shelter for a variety of insects that overwinter in the Northeast. During this indoor and outdoor presentation, center naturalists will explain how some insects trigger abnormal growth in certain plants, creating both shelter and food for insect larvae. We will take a casual stroll on Five Rivers’ gentle trails, stopping along the way to learn about these insects and the plants they inhabit.
