Since 1975, 224 species of bird have been observed at Five Rivers. Over 30 of these species breed north of Five Rivers and are seen only when they pass through in spring and fall. We’ll watch for both fall migrants and resident birds as we check places where birds are likely to refuel before continuing their southward journey. This program is free and open to the public.

A pond is more than a body of water. It is a bustling community of plants and animals awaiting discovery. Join us as we compare and contrast different ponds on the property and examine the critters that live in them. We will also focus on seasonal changes as the pond community prepares for the coming freeze. This program is free and open to the public.

Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
