Hudson River Days is the annual celebration of the Hudson River estuary and its watershed. Hudson River Days events are organized by a diverse set of stakeholders to focus on the environment, bringing public attention to the river's scenery, ecology and recreational uses, as well as the people, organizations, businesses and entities that work to promote environmental stewardship and restoration, public access and recreation. Hudson River Days celebrate the progress made in revitalizing the Hudson River and its watershed with a focus on the five themes of the 2010-2014 Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda: Clean Water, Habitat, River Access, Climate Change and Scenery. Hudson River Days activities range from sails and swims to music and visual art inspired by the natural beauty of the region. To find an event near you, see the website above.

The answer is yes, but the questions are when and what kind? There are over 1,500 species of cicadas but not all make their presence known here at Five Rivers. Come join us for an indoor overview of cicadas, then venture afield in search of these fascinating insects in their natural habitat. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. Please call Five Rivers at 518-475-0291 to register for this program by Wednesday, July 17. This program free and open to the public.

How does a grasshopper make that rasping sound. And what is it for? Why are insects louder at certain times of the day?  Come learn to understand and identify common “singing” insects. Staff naturalists will lead a search along gentle Five Rivers trails for the many musical insects which animate a summer’s evening. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. Please call Five Rivers at 518-475-0291 to register for this program by Wednesday, July 17. This program is free and open to the public.

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas.
