The black sea bass open season is from July 10 through December 31. Anglers may keep 8 fish daily that are each a minimum length of 13 inches.

As a reminder, salltwater anglers who are not fishing aboard a party or charter boat, and who are 16 and older must be enrolled in the free 2013 recreational marine fishing registry before going fishing. More information is available on DEC's Recreational Marine Fishing Registry web page.

An award-winning curriculum that uses the forest as a "window" to help students in grades pre-k to 8 and educators gain awareness and knowledge of the natural world.  Much of the curriculum focuses on practical, familiar examples of trees, plants, and household products to paint a broader picture of the issues facing the environment today.  Participants receive a free PLT curriculum guide upon completion, and free admission to Old Westbury Gardens for the day.  (www.plt.org)

Lake Ronkonkoma County Park - Town of Brookhaven Beach
Geared to families. Basic instruction focuses on fish identification, techniques, regulations and stewardship practices. Open fishing to follow. Clinic runs from 6 p.m. to sunset.  Call I FISH NY staff at 631-444-0283 to register.
