Project Learning Tree (PLT) is an award-winning curriculum enhancement program for teachers and youth leaders focusing on forest resources. This hands-on workshop will introduce instructional activities which integrate nature-based exploration, art, literature, math, music and movement into early childhood education programs. Participants will receive a free PLT Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood Activity Guide full of instructions for hands-on activities geared for ages 3-6. Several free fishing clinics will be held in Western New York throughout late May and June, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today. These family-friendly events offer free instruction on basic fish identification, aquatic ecology, fishing equipment and techniques to anglers of all ages.

Come learn all about turtles up close and personal as we celebrate World Turtle Day. Turtle expert Dee Strnisa will conduct an indoor overview of turtle natural history and the conservation challenges turtles face today, featuring live turtles. Afterward, Five Rivers staff will lead an outdoor search for pond turtles. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
