Welcome to the New York Wildfire & Incident Academy’s first spring prescribed fire academy. 

This academy is designed to teach individuals and teams how to properly conduct prescribed burns safely and effectively.

All academy classes are held at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York.

All registrations for both the Spring Prescribed Fire Academy as well as the March 2013 course offering must be sent in by mail/e‐mail/fax. Completed applications can be e‐mailed to nywima@pb.state.ny.us or faxed to the Academy's office at (631) 769-1772.

This webinar will provide an overview of the benefits and challenges associated with some common renewable energy technologies, planning and policy considerations for installing these systems, and common financing mechanisms for local governments. Speakers from local governments in New York will offer insight on their experience with specific renewable energy financing programs.

The webinar will be accessible to anyone via an Internet connection and telephone. Webinar participants must use the telephone call-in number; no audio signal will be transmitted over the Internet. To join the webinar, go to http://www.webdialogs.com, click the “Join a meeting” button and enter Conference ID 58089 in the “Meeting Login” screen. Join us for our weekly after-school outings for gradeschool children. A brief indoor introduction to the season will be followed by an outdoor exploration along Five Rivers’ trails, searching for signs of the season. Each week will feature a different nature theme, with a strong emphasis on direct interaction with the outdoors. These programs are free of charge, but space is limited. Registration for any date is required by the preceding Tuesday. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. In the event of inclement weather, outings will be cancelled.
