The 2012 New York Wildfire and Incident Management Academy was able complete nine of its 16 course offerings due to Hurricane Sandy.

Academy staff are rescheduling four of the classes that were canceled due to Hurricane Sandy in March 2013.

Course dates are:

  • I-300 - Intermediate Incident Command System with NIMS - March 11 - March 13, 2013
  • I-400 - Advanced ICS with NIMS - March 14 - March 15, 2013
  • S-230 - Single Resource Crew Boss - March 11 - March 13, 2013
  • S-231 - Engine Boss - March 14, 2013 (Extended Day).

All courses will be held at Brookhaven National Lab and housing will be at Brookhaven Lab. Individuals interested in housing should contact BNL at (631) 344-2541 or (631) 344-2551.

Individuals interested in the above four courses should submit their applications by March 1, 2013.

Join us for our weekly after-school outings for gradeschool children. A brief indoor introduction to the season will be followed by an outdoor exploration along Five Rivers’ trails, searching for signs of the season. Each week will feature a different nature theme, with a strong emphasis on direct interaction with the outdoors. These programs are free of charge, but space is limited. Registration for any date is required by the preceding Tuesday. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. In the event of inclement weather, outings will be cancelled. Enjoy a one-hour program for kids featuring a different, fun, outdoor activity each week. For children in grades K through 5. No registration required.

You are invited to attend public an informational session at the Springwater Fire Hall, 8145 S. Main St. Springwater, NY. We encourage you to review the draft UMP and provide us with comments on the proposed plan.

Doors will open for an informational open house at 6:30pm. Display stations will be set up and committee members will be available for discussion. A half-hour presentation on the draft plan will begin at 7:00 pm, followed by a comment session. Staff will be available until 9:00 pm to accept comments. The Fire Hall is accessible; for additional accommodations please contact the DEC Bath office.

Public Meeting Location: Council Chambers, Lockport Municipal Building, One Locks Plaza, City of Lockport, NY

The public is invited to the meeting to learn about the remedy being proposed by DEC to address contamination related to the Old Upper Mountain Road Site (Lockport, Niagara County). Public comments also are welcome at the meeting, and during a public comment period that runs through March 28, 2013.

The public is invited to the meeting to learn about the "no further action" remedy being proposed by DEC related to the Former AFMC Facility Site (Sackets Harbor Village). Public comments also are welcome at the meeting, and during a public comment period that runs through March 29, 2013.
