Pines and other cone-bearing trees remain green all year long. The site and smell of these trees reminds us of the holiday season. Come join us for an indoor presentation to learn about the cultural history of the Christmas tree and the types of trees used in this holiday tradition. Then join us outdoors for a field study of our local evergreens.

This is a great time of year to explore the world of seeds. Join us for a field study of different types of plants and their different ways of spreading their seeds. We will collect a variety of seeds and then proceed inside to make a seed craft to take home. Parent(s) and child(ren) must accompany each other. This program is free of charge, but space is limited. Please call the center at 518-475-0291 to register by Wednesday, December 12.

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
