Eastern Mudminnow

Eastern Mudminnow

Umbra pygmaea

Eastern Mudminnow occurs in small streams and ponds and is tolerant of low oxygen and acidic conditions. It is native to Long Island, Lower Hudson, Newark Bay and Delaware watersheds in southeastern New York. Hybridization with Central Mudminnow has been reported in the lower Hudson River. Recent collections in the Delaware River of NY for the first time represent an upriver range extension from the downriver native population in Pennsylvania.
