Moxostoma valenciennesi

Greater Redhorse inhabits large rivers and lakes and spawns on clean gravel. Its range includes all of the Great Lakes watersheds plus Champlain except for the Black watershed. Its range is expanding and its frequency of catch has increased, particularly in the Erie, Genesee and Oswegatchie watersheds. It is rarely caught in the Oswego and Champlain watersheds.
