Lake Chubsucker

Lake Chubsucker

Erimyzon sucetta

Lake Chubsucker once occurred in densely vegetated bays of Lake Ontario west of Rochester and in tributary mouths of Lake Erie. An early record from Montezuma Marshes north of Cayuga Lake suggests a wider historic range. The last NY record was a 1939 capture even though a population remains in Ontario only a few miles west of Niagara Falls. Lake Chubsucker is extirpated and classified as threatened.
