Notropis hudsonius

Spottail Shiner inhabits larger streams and larger lakes and is often a major component of the open water forage-fish assemblage. Its range extends into 17 watersheds, absent only from the Long Island watershed. It is generally at lower elevations. It has been introduced into a few higher elevation waters in the Adirondacks.
